Galleries Elect was formed in 1987 to give artists the opportunity for
exposure in New York City, traditionally the most difficult art center to
penetrate. From elite Madison Avenue and 57th Street to the eclectic
East Village and SoHo, ten diverse galleries each committed to one
month of gallery time and space, hosting exhibitions of artists previously
unknown to them. 

From group to one person shows, gallery dealers chose artists whose
work was geared toward their vision and specific clientele. Awards
totaling $10,000 were presented to selected artists throughout the
exhibition season and a full-color catalogue documenting each exhibiting
artists’ work was produced and distributed, all under the auspices of
Galleries Elect, the third successful project of ArtQuest, Inc.
